A DEDICATION TO A QUEEN - WHITNEY HOUSTON

Whitney, only four days ago I stumbled across an article with a very disturbing title... and they posted some photos which were meant to degrade you.

I said to myself really loudly - "LEAVE WHITNEY ALONE". I wanted to post a Facebook status saying this, but I didn't want to draw attention to the article.

Two days ago when I woke up to read the news of your passing, I was devastated, shocked, so upset and regretful that I did not post that status update or tweet it.

Whitney, your life may have been troubled, but there was no denying your talent, your voice, your womanhood and your life as a loving mother and strong believer in God.

So today I published this in remembrance of the good times and your happiest moments.....

Whitney Elizabeth Houston
(August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012)
A woman of style, class, a mother, an artist and described by many as "the greatest voice of our time".

Your discography consisted of seven studio albums, four compilations, and three soundtrack albums, as well as fifty-three singles.

An amazing musical accomplishment.

WHITNEY, YOUR MEMORY WILL LIVE ON THROUGH YOUR MUSIC...

1985: Debut album, "Whitney Houston," is released, selling millions.  With hit songs, "How Will I Know," "you Give Good Love," "Saving All My Love For You" and "Greatest Love of All."

1987: Follow-up album "Whitney" is released. Includes hits "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," "So Emotional" and "Where Do Broken Hearts Go."

1988: Whitney, records theme song for Seoul Olympics, "One Moment In Time."
1991: Whitney returns with a performance of "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl during the first Gulf War.

1992: Whitney stars opposite Kevin Costner in "The Bodyguard." The hit film makes Houston a Hollywood star and its theme song, "I Will Always Love You", this song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for fourteen weeks and was certified 4 × Platinum by the RIAA.
You were the first and only female artist to reach this level.
Like the soundtrack, the single peaked at number one on the charts in nearly every country and sold 12 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling single of all time by a female artist.

1992: Whitney Marries Bobby Brown
1993: Whitney has a daughter with Brown, Bobbi Kristina

1995: Whitney stars in the movie "Waiting to Exhale."

1996: Whitney stars opposite Denzel Washington in "The Preacher's Wife."

1997: Whitney, appears as fairy godmother in TV version of Rogers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella."

1998: Whitney releases the album "My Love Is Your Love." Song "It's Not Right But It's Okay" and wins a Grammy for best female R&B vocal. "Heartbreak Hotel" (featuring Faith Evans & Kelly Price) is also released.
1999: "I'm Every Woman" is released.
2005: Whitney appears in reality TV show "Being Bobby Brown."
2009: Whitney's comeback album "I Look To You" debuts at top of charts, and goes platinum.

2009: In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Whitney declares herself drug  free.

The saddest part about your death, besides the fact that you will no longer be here with us, is the fact that you died alone and that your Bobby is now without you. I will pray she takes solace in knowing you are in a better place re-united with the God you loved so much and in the memories she shared with you.

I will pray that you rest in peace eternally.

Thank you for your devotion to the music and your consistent passionate delivery of every song.

We will ALWAYS LOVE YOU WHITNEY.

Angel

Get out of trouble track (Dance floor clearing, you drop it the crowd jumps up): At this point in time, the one track that gets everybody dancing is : Danza Kuduro - Dom Omar

ANGEL'S HOT SPOTS - WEEK 2

Hey All
Check out Angel's HOT SPOTS this week.
Some new hot spots and some oldies....
Anything you need to know, about the night - just leave a comment and I'll find the answer... :)

HOT SPOT 1
THURSDAY - SWAG at Trademark Hotel - 1 Bayswater Road KINGS CROSS
Yes SWAG again!

Mainly because....I just luurrrrvvvvveeee the themes that Ian and Ally Reid & their team at ME ENTERTAINMENT come up with for all of their events.

They are so ORIGINAL...I'm telling ya they are leading the game with these awesome ideas!

Get your "SUPER SWAG" on this Thursday and every Thursday at this HOT SPOT!

DOOR CHARGE: $20
DRESS CODE: SWAG (No thongs)

HOT SPOT 2
FRIDAY - LOVE GUN FRIDAYS - IVY CHANGEROOM - Level 3, IVY, 320 George Street SYDNEY
Ok so you guys know I'm a dancing queen and love to "shake my tail feather" as often as possible... weeeelllll I am quite excited I have found a great spot to do it on a Friday night!

At Love Gun Fridays you will hear an eclectic mix of hip hop and rock & roll spun by one of the most eccentric characters in the business, Tina Turntables. The night kicks off from 9pm and kicks on until the wee small hours, with Tina keeping the dance floor packed throughout.

(I stole that from their website, because it's too hard to contact someone at Merivale and there is no event flyer because I was told by one of the girls that answered the phone; "we are not authorised to send our flyers out" - I mean seriously, honestly...).

But basically they have a few different DJ's that play a good mix of music, which you can dance too.  Tina Turntables (is a guy by the way & don't you just love that name) IS great, but sometimes finds it hard to gently mix music from the different genres together... So you might hear the occasional "Ohhh" coming from the crowd when he gets it wrong!

The other female DJ's are good too, one of them drops the best old skool HIP HOP tracks that take you back to the days of "Chocolate City or EP1".... She smiles showing her age... ;)

My only other issue with this spot is the "air" (or lack of it) I think Merivale are trying to save on their air conditioning bill so this room remains as hot as a MUTHA......and gets hotter as you build up a sweat and the dance floor gets busier.

If you don't mind getting hot and sweaty on a Friday night on the dance floor and want to hear some great old & new underground hip hop tracks infused with rock classics...then walk through the curtain that separates the "IVY Change Rooms" from the dance floor and get your groove on!

DOOR CHARGE: $20 (FREE before 8, if they let you in)
DRESS CODE: Dress up its IVY on a FRIDAY night

HOT SPOT 3
SATURDAY - J BOOG & Million Stylez Live at THE METRO THEATRE - 624 George Street SYDNEY
The girls from SAEA BANYANA will be supporting JBOOG this Saturday night at The METRO!

If the SAEA girls are there you know it is going to be a great show!

J Boog is the guy behind the hit songs "Let's Do it Again" & "So Far Gone".

If you like Island or reggae music then this is the spot to be at this Saturday night!

This show is brought to you by DJ Nick Toth & Jamrock.

You can read all about him in my DJ in FOCUS section.

Grab your tickets at Ticketek

DRESS CODE: Smart Casual

3 NEW SEGMENTS

Beautiful People

I have decided to add 3 new segments to my blog!

Since I am great supporter of everything local including - Local Artists, Local business, Local people doing it big, I will be publishing the following 3 new segments on a weekly or fortnightly basis which will showcase all the amazing people in Sydney or AUS who are doing big & great things in our city or in this world:

"Angels Hotspots" - This segment consists of local clubs, bars, restaurants or quality events, concerts or festivals to head to every week in Sydney.

"DJ in Focus" - Our local DJ's need recognition for the great job they do bringing us GREAT music.  Each week I will profile a DJ starting with all my friends in the URBAN music scene in Sydney.

"Aussie Aussie Aussie" - It amazes me how many "Aussies" are making international news be it online or on the box. Each fortnight I will profile a local Aussie, making a name for themselves, both in AUS and on an international scale.

For now these segments will just form part of the blog, but in the next couple of weeks I will be re-vamping "The Secret Life of Angel", for easier viewing pleasure... ;))

I hope you are enjoying this journey as much as I am!

Angels can fly high, because they take themselves lightly!
