EARTH WIND & FIRE - A SPECIAL TRIBUTE

Legendary band Earth Wind & Fire will hit the shores of Sydney in the month of April, for a one-off show.

This is a special tribute to them to thank them for making the music I grew up on!
Earth Wind & Fire is a Soul, Funk Band which began in the late 1960's

• The group also know as EWF was founded in Chicago, Illinois, by Maurice White

• It was originally called the started a band called The Salty Peppers and they released 2 singles "La La Time" & "Uh Huh Yeah"

• In 1970 the name was changed to Earth Wind and Fire which is a representation of Maurice White's star sign - Sagitarrius.

• There have been quite a few members over the years including Philip Bailey, Verdine White, Ralph Johnson, Larry Dunn and Al McKay. 

• The band has received 20 Grammy nominations; winning six as a group. Maurice White and Phillip Bailey, won separate individual awards.

• EWF have sold over 90 million units worldwide.

• The Band has had many hits over the years including:

Plus "That's the Way of the World", "Reasons", "Sing a Song", "Can't Hide Love", "Getaway",  "Love's Holiday", "After the Love Has Gone".

• They have been inducted into just about every "Hall of Fame, including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

• After incorporating the electronic sound into their eleventh album Raise! in 1981 they sold over 1 million copies and the album went platinum.

• Earth, Wind & Fire are known for their dynamic shows, horn section, electronic sounds and unique vocals

• In 2005 they were awarded a BET Lifetime award

• Two Earth, Wind & Fire songs have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame: “That’s The Way of The World” and “Shining Star”

• The band is also known as having been the first African-American performers to sell out Madison Square Garden 

• In 2009 Earth, Wind & Fire performed at the White House for the Governors dinner in the first social event of President Barack Obama & The First Lady Michelle Obama

Their music is timeless and has created some amazing memories!
